The ceremony was attended by Manabu Konyama, president and CEO of Toyota Motor Korea, Korean Paralympic Committee Chairman Jung Jin-owan and Kim's family. Kim, 19, competed in six events across para biathlon and para cross-country skiing at the 2026 Winter Paralympics, winning two gold medals and three silver medals. Her five-medal haul set a record for the most by a Korean athlete at a single Olympic or Paralympic Games, summer or winter. She was later named the national team’s MVP in a vote by journalists covering the Korean Paralympic Committee. Toyota Motor Korea said the vehicle presentation was part of its global “Start Your Impossible” campaign, which emphasizes pushing beyond perceived limits, and was meant to honor Kim’s performance at her first Paralympic Games. “The fighting spirit shown by
Dongwha Electrolyte, a Korean specialty chemical producer that supplies key components for electric-vehicle batteries, has secured a government designation for its electrolyte solution technology, a move that could unlock tax incentives and state support. The company said Friday that its lithium-ion battery electrolyte compound had been recognized as a “national strategic technology.” The designation, part of a broader government push to strengthen domestic supply chains, was granted to just three applicants in the latest review cycle. The company, an affiliate of Dongwha Enterprise, said the designation was confirmed by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Institute of S&T Evaluation and Planning under the first round of the 2026 national strategic technology verification program. The program, based on the Special Act on the Promotion of National Strategic Technologies, evaluates whether technologies held by companies and research institutions meet national strategic

Sales of imported vehicles in Korea rose 34.6 percent in March from a year earlier, supported by more working days and robust demand for electric vehicles (EVs), industry data showed Friday. New registrations increased to 33,970 units last month from 25,229 a year earlier, according to the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association (KAIDA). The three best-selling models in March were all from U.S. EV maker Tesla – the Model Y, Model 3 Long Range and Model 3. The unit of China's BYD began local operations in January last year, with sales first reported in March. The company's deliveries in the first quarter were just 6% higher than last year, and Tesla now faces a third straight year of falling sales.
Tesla's first quarter sales report is out, and depending on how you look at it, the numbers are good but also bad. The company's sales are up a modest 6 percent year over year, but that's probably not the best way of looking at it considering the extraordinary circumstances surrounding Tesla - Elon Musk's Nazi salute, DOGE, Tesla Takedown protests - at the start of 2025. Tesla's sales were down a whopping 13 percent that quarter, so a modest increase was expected. Instead analysts are looking at how this quarter stacks up against the previous one, and they're not finding a lot to like. Tesla said it delivered 358,023 vehicles to customers, … Read the full story at The Verge.
