arXiv:2608.05404v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: The Penn State University High Energy Astrophysics Detector and Instrumentation Lab, in collaboration with Teledyne Imaging Sensors, has developed a next-generation event-driven X-ray hybrid CMOS detector. This detector is an HCD with a 1,024x1,024 array of 21-micron pitch pixels, featuring a comparator in each pixel to enable event-driven readout. While the full frame operation of this detector can reach readout speeds of up to 150 Hz, this event-driven operation allows readout of only those pixels that surpass a user-set charge threshold, enabling effective rates of up to 10 kHz. Here we report on the past detector development efforts at Penn State and describe these new detectors and expected performance improvements.
arXiv:2608.05718v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry requires camera networks that provide sufficient surface coverage, image overlap, parallax, and resolution, yet conventional flight patterns are often poorly adapted to scene geometry resulting in local reconstruction errors. This paper proposes an iterative hybrid discrete-continuous viewpoint planning method for targeted UAV photogrammetry from a proxy reconstruction. The method scores sampled surface points using photogrammetric heuristics based on frontality, imaging distance, parallax, and multi-view observation count, while also evaluating the full viewpoint set in terms of visibility, pairwise overlap, and graph connectivity. Candidate viewpoints are generated around weakly observed regions, refined using clustered Covariance matrix adaptation evolution strategy (CMA-ES) optimisation, and removed when redundant. The final flight path combines close-range detail viewpoints with wider

Author(s): V. Varrica, G. Falci, E. Paladino, and F. M. D. PellegrinoHere, the authors show that inductive coupling between a superconducting resonator and a short, wide two-dimensional material-based Josephson junction induces a phase transition in the global light–matter ground state. The resulting phase, which spontaneously breaks time-reversal symmetry, carries a finite equilibrium supercurrent at phase difference ϕ = π , where an isolated conventional Josephson junction carries no equilibrium supercurrent. The hybrid light–matter excitation spectrum provides spectroscopic fingerprints of the transition, while highly transparent transport channels determine the critical coupling. [Phys. Rev.
