A Tesla Model Y turning left at an intersection collided with a pickup truck in Batavia, Illinois, killing a passenger in the Tesla — Maggie Espinosa, 37, a teacher and mother of five. It was reported as an ordinary intersection crash. But Electrek was able to confirm that Tesla’s own report to federal regulators says the car’s driver-assist system was engaged as it made that turn. This is part of an ongoing Electrek investigation matching reported crashes to Tesla’s redacted NHTSA data. more…

Tesla reports its Autopilot and “Full Self-Driving” crashes to the federal government, as it’s required to — and then blacks out almost everything in those reports, so the public never learns what happened in those crashes. Tesla always end up blaming the driver. We’re matching those redacted reports, one by one, to real fatal crashes that were covered in the news as ordinary accidents. This is a running investigation, and we’ll add each crash we confirm to this page. You can view this as an investigative hub keeping track of our ongoing investigation. more…
arXiv:2608.30199v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: This data article presents a high-resolution, long-term synthetic electric-vehicle (EV) charging dataset for Trondheim, Norway, spanning February 2020 to December 2030. Empirically grounded in 14 months of historical charging logs from December 2018 to January 2020, the dataset captures session-level behavioral patterns, including delivered energy, plug-in duration, connection schedules, user categorization (private vs. shared), seasonal variations, public-holiday effects, and daily ambient temperature dependencies. To model future electrification dynamics, the synthetic generation pipeline integrates historical session records, calendar and weather features from MET Norway, annual EV-adoption growth multipliers derived from Statistics Norway (SSB) registration trajectories, a daily session-count model, a Conditional Tabular Generative Adversarial Network (CTGAN), seasonal Kernel Density Estimation (KDE), and post-generation physical

Tesla told federal regulators that its driver-assist system was “verified engaged” when a Model 3 crashed at 104 mph and killed its driver in Clute, Texas — a detail that never appeared in any police statement or news report about the crash, which happened in May 2026. The gap between Tesla’s own data and the public account of the crash is the latest example of how little the public learns about crashes involving the company’s Autopilot and “Full Self-Driving” systems. more…

arXiv:2608.23992v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Large language model (LLM) agents invoke external tools to retrieve and reason over information beyond pretrained knowledge. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) standardizes how such tools are surfaced, and a proxy MCP server aggregates many backend servers behind a single endpoint providing a secure, governable chokepoint for authentication, policy enforcement, and observability. This architecture creates two compounding challenges: a context-engineering bottleneck where full tool schemas saturate the model context window before any user query, and a tool discoverability barrier where users and agents cannot identify the best tool among 2,000+ indexed tools across 200+ MCP servers. Prompt caching reduces reprocessing cost but neither frees context capacity nor improves accuracy. We present SCOUT (Selective Context Optimization for Universal Tooling), which reframes tool exposure as a context-selection problem, injecting only tools relevant
